Test Knitting Specs

Buffalo Rose Tee is a sport weight, bottom-up, seamless raglan tee with cap sleeves and a 3-color stranded colorwork motif around the body.

TEST DATES:

February 6, 2022 - April 3, 2022

This test knit will be hosted on Slack.

Applications will be considered based on your responses, portfolio, and level of experience for this given project.

Forest Lane Fiber Co. will have an exclusive listing available for testers to purchase her Rambouillet Sport base, for the purposes of this test, at a 15% discount! Turnaround time for orders is around 2 weeks due to her dye schedule. Once a tester is selected, they will receive the link and discount code to purchase.

The test is slated to begin on Sunday, February 6, 2022, when a formatted, fully tech-edited pattern will be sent to testers who have completed a gauge swatch. Testers will be selected around Monday, January 24, 2022 to allow time for yarn purchase and shipment from Forest Lane Fiber Co., or any other necessary preparation.

 

Buffalo Rose Tee Test Knitter Requirements

  • Previous experience in knitting garments

  • Previous experience in test knitting for designers or publications

  • Previous experience in stranded colorwork, preferably in 3 colors

  • Knowledge of standard swatching for gauge purposes

  • Knowledge of wet or steam blocking garments to measurements

  • Ability to learn new techniques and problem-solve independently

  • Attention to detail when reading patterns, especially with multiple sizes

  • Ability and willingness to photograph FO in clear, natural lighting for social media sharing purposes

These numbers are estimates based on the pattern measurements as written. Your actual yardage may vary based on the weight of yarn used and/or any modifications you choose to make.

Needle size:

US 5/3.75mm, or size needed to obtain gauge, 32-47”/80-120cm for body, 20”/50cm for collar and two sets of DPNs or 16”/40cm circulars for armholes and sleeves

US 4/3.5mm, or one size smaller than main needle, 32-47”/80-120cm for hem ribbing, 20”/50cm for neckband, and DPNs or 9-12”/22-30cm for sleeve cuffs

Note: Depending on the yarn used, your needle size may vary to obtain gauge.

 

Tools: Stitch markers, tapestry needle.

 

Gauge: 

21 sts x 34 rows = 4” x 4” (10cm x 10cm) in stockinette in the round, after washing and blocking

20 sts x 28 rows = 4” x 4” (10cm x 10xm) in stranded colorwork in the round, after washing and blocking

 

NOTE: It is highly recommended that you swatch in both stockinette and stranded colorwork, as some knitters’ gauge may vary between the two.
